Staring with SEO.

1. SEO (Traffic From Google)

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the most obvious way to gain traffic. No compromise here! Because, this is potentially game-changing for your blogging.

For example, if you search “blogging mentor” on Google, you will find 1millionblogs on the first page. Imagine, if only 100 peoples are searching “blogging mentor” monthly, they will find me right their on their screen.

But ranking on Google is not that easy! Some keywords are highly competitive to rank, while low-competitive keywords have lower search volume. Do you know that 200+ factors decide your ranking! All that takes time to learn and implement.

This is how my 3 months blog performing on Google.

Some bloggers have Millions of monthly impression, with several thousands of clicks (traffic) on their website. All that is organic traffic.

As a blogger, you can’t afford to lose SEO traffic. The below graph depicts what makes SEO achievable.

2. Guest Posting

Guest posting is primarily done to get backlinks. A backlink is a vote of confidence which you earn for your content when any other authoritative website links to your blog or page. This can be organic backlink or through guest posting.

Organic backlinks are usually gained for unique content (or product, tool, software, etc.) for which others are comfortable and confident in recommending to their audience. But, for a blogger, gaining organic backlinks isn’t expected in the beginning. So, beginners have the only option, i.e., guest posting.

In guest posting, you write an article for someone else’s website (as per their content guidelines) and in exchange they give you a link or simply, promote you.

The steps to publish a guest post are:

  • Find websites in your niche with DA (Domain Authority) higher than yours website.
  • Reach out to the admin using “write for us” page, or through social media platforms.
  • Give them a very compelling blog topic idea that would benefit their website and fill their content gap.
  • Research well on factors such as keywords and industry and prepare a high quality blog article on MS Word or Google Docs
  • Submit the site owners with your author bio and two backlinks (do-follow) at places where you can get most of the eyeballs.

3. Reach out to Influencers

Influencers are the people with a good follower base on their social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. These influencers promotes different products and services for companies and bloggers in return of some pre-decided charges.

Some influencers promote at affordable charges based on the quality and size of their followers. Collaborate with one or a few of such influencers and promote your blog content.

4. Build Email list & Send Newsletter

When you’re giving away some immense value in your content, people will subscribe to your email list in a moment. Once you’ve gotten their email addresses, you can carry on with regular newsletters or promotions.

It may take a few months to build a quality email list. Tools such as Brevo, MailChimp, HubSpot, Zoho Campaign provide full environment collect emails, organize contacts and send regular email Newsletter.

If you have email list, email marketing becomes a cost-effective marketing method.

5. Make Instagram Reels

Similar to how people redirect their audience to Amazon or Etsy links, you can direct your niche-based audience to your blog. But you know what’s the hardest part? Building an audience.

Here’s what I suggest you to do:

  • Look at other creators in your niche and analyze their content types and topics.
  • Pick your audience’s pain points and give them a solution in your blog posts.

Remember: The better solutions you provide, the more valuable you’ll be to the people.

6. Start Pinterest Board

One creator on LinkedIn claimed to have 7M+ impressions directly from her Pinterest marketing strategy. Isn’t it enough like a dream?

The good part is, you can start it too. Pinterest allows users to create pins and embed their website links to promote it. You can also schedule your pins, join groups, and optimize the pins with Pinterest SEO.

If your niche is anything like visual and crafty, your blog wouldn’t take much to start getting clicks.

7. Build WhatsApp or Telegram Channel

Since WhatsApp has launched its ‘Channels’ feature, creators are leveraging it to build their community. However, this tradition of building a community has been going on for years on Telegram.

Here’s why you should start a channel too:

  • Most of the people come from social media platforms or your promotion. So, chances are, they are ‘loyal members’.
  • You can build trust among them with consistent blog posts.
  • Channel keeps your loyal audience just one-chat away.

This method works the best in the long run, when you have a large network.

8. use Facebook Groups (But Carefully)

Do you know Facebook has over 70 million active groups? Where you can join with people across the globe. Using Facebook groups to gain an organic audience can be one of the ways to direct traffic to your blog.

But one thing that you must avoid at all costs is to not spam in Facebook groups, it may lead to removal from Facebook groups.

9. Use LinkedIn Pulse

Linkedln Pulse is a platform built in Linkedln itself, for content distribution. It allows people and businesses to create, share content, and engage large audiences to nurture their brand.

LinkedIn Pulse allows publishing articles. It will help you to demonstrate your expertise in the given niche. The articles should be well crafted, provide quality, and engaging.

You can also create newsletters on LinkedIn make people subscribe to it, and add links to your website in the bio. That will eventually help you increase your chance of bringing organic traffic to your blog.

10. Use X (Twitter) for Blog Promotion

While people use X (Twitter) to share their opinions, ideas, and hiring posts, a lot of them also promote their blogs. In fact, there is a ‘Social’ section when you publish a new blog post.

But wait, here’s more: You can post a tweet thread on the problem your blog post solves. Or, if you’ve got something ‘new and interesting’, just add the link!

11. Start Your YouTube Channel

Recently, I came across a YouTube ‘series’ where the host was simply taking people on a journey as he grows the blog. It simply goes like, “a video on how we launched, publishing frequency, clicks, and everything.

You can do nothing different, but the same. People love to get engaged in others’ journeys. For instance, start with a #100DaysChallenge of growing a finance blog!

12. Build an Audience on Medium

Medium is the most popular platform where bloggers and writers write content and connect. It has around 100 million monthly audience.

If you are starting from scratch, first explore the platform, connect with other writers, engage with their stories and posts, and spread the word to your people. Leave links to your profile while interacting with other writers’ Blog posts.

Try to get featured in relevant publications on the medium, which will help you reach a new audience and reputation.

13. use Quora for blog promotion

Quora is one of the platforms where people engage. You can promote your blogs there but don’t copy and paste links for your blog while answering people’s questions. This may get you blocked on Quora. Take time to genuinely help people by answering people’s queries.

You can put your blog’s URL in the bio of your profile. So, people can take reference from blogs if your content is informational.

14. Use Sidebar and Footer Areas

You must’ve seen a lot of websites with articles floating around in their sidebar or footer. For example, look at this one:

So, if a reader finds something more interesting on the sidebar, he might end up going through more and more of your web pages. Hence, becoming more familiar with your content!

15. List yourself to directory sites

If you want to create maximum exposure to your website, listing yourself to directory sites will help more customers discover and interact with your site, and help build engagement.

Directory listing is a database that connects online users searching for a specific thing.

By listing your website in different directories there is a higher chance to get customers to visit your site by becoming more visible on the net.

16. Take part in Forum Sites

Online forums like Reddit, Quora, Stack Exchange, phpBB, etc. These are discussion sites where people gather together to ask questions, share experiences, discuss topics, and create communities.

Forums can be used to promote the company, website, or services and increase brand visibility. You can join online forums, choose relevant communities, and provide value to build trust among the members.

Once that happens there are chances people would like to listen to you and potentially reach your website, blog, or subscribe to your newsletter.

17. Using Comment as your Marketing

Commenting on social media posts, yes that’s what I’m talking about here. In fact, we brought over 50 people on one of our blog posts from a LinkedIn post comment

But not every comment receives enough traction. It has to be:

  • Interesting
  • Relevant
  • Humorous

..to catch people’s attention. You can also get people on your blog post through an insight out of it, and then directing to the link. Or, use the power of captivating stories.

18. Go for Paid Ads

Why pay for the ads?

The reason is that paid advertising is promotional content to reach customers and get traffic. Websites take time to grow organically, but having paid ads allows websites to rank and appear higher on the search engine.

flowchart of how ads bring traffic

You can use ads like, Google ads, Facebook ads, and more. Paid ad targeting helps you reach specific demographics and geographic locations, deliver messages to the targeted audience, and drive higher engagement and website traffic.

19. Make your content Shareable

Now we are talking about content quality. So, what makes a piece of content shareable? The value it provides to the readers. Let’s say that your target audience is the people who want to lose weight.

They find your blog post on, “The best fruits to lose weight!” Let’s say that the blog is filled with information related to nutritional value, other benefits, etc.

Does it look valuable to your readers now? Yes.

Are they likely to share the post with their friends? It seems so.

The formula is simple: Share enough value to answer every question of your audience.

20. Build Real Connections at events

Think of a situation: Would you support an apparent stranger online or someone you genuinely connect with? The latter, of course.

The same case goes here. When you’re building genuine connections, you’re very likely to gain support from people. In fact, if you end up with someone in the same industry, you might gain backlinks and genuine recommendations too!

Bonus: Plan Giveaways

Who doesn’t want to win a prize? Isn’t it?

You must have tried to enter some contests just to get the prize when you saw the ad or an online post. Like it was a race to win.

Giveaways just do that. They help you drive traffic to your website or blog and create a buzz around it.  It is not just to please the audience; it has goals like building an email list, gaining followers, getting a new audience, and getting more traffic to your blog.

You can include entry actions to enter a contest like; Do subscribe to my newsletter, or follow me on Pinterest, or tag a friend, or ask 2 more friends to follow me, etc. This will create a buzz and attract traffic to your blog or website. Remember, to have a goal in mind and track the results.

Conclusion

Here we came at the end.

Use these methods and start promoting your website. Avoid spamming on any platform. The more you experiment with these strategies, the more you are likely to succeed in bringing traffic to your blog or website and gaining a new audience.

Best wishes
